Caring Canines |
Caring Canines is a dog assisted therapy group - whose volunteer members visit dedicated venues in the local community. East Dorset Craft Club |
We are a craft group meeting once a month to work together and share ideas. Any craft welcome but at the moment we are scrapbookers and card-makers. We also occasionally arrange demos by members of other craft clubs, and visits from mobile craft shops. We aim to attract any crafters who want an informal day to concentrate on their hobby with a like-minded and light-hearted group of individuals – and we provide tea/coffee and biscuits and cake! K9 Dog Training |
Mondays 5pm to 11pm At K9 Training Centre, we run fun and friendly classes from simple puppy socialisation classes through Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards under the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme in West Moors, Ferndown, East Dorset. We also do agility sessions in Gaunts Common, Wimborne, Dorset for that extra special adventure. Oddfellows |
Loyal Acorn Lodge is a branch of The Oddfellows, the oldest Friendly Society. We have social gatherings, once a month and we regularly use West Moors Memorial Hall along with other local venues to meet and socialise for friendship and companionship. We generally have a themed quiz, an afternoon buffet tea, a book stall, a bring and buy stall and a raffle and raise money for a different, chosen, local charity each year. Wessex wyverns wargamers club. Monday nights 6.30pm to 10.30pm. Three times a month No meeting first Monday which will on the Thursday. We play board games, Syfy, 40k, historical battles. West Moors Drama Society |
We are a well established friendly drama group specialising in light comedy and mysteries. Our home is the West Moors Memorial Hall close to the centre of the village (see location map below) For more than sixty years has been producing shows twice a year at the same venue. Many of our actors and supporters have been with us for decades enjoying the company and thrill of drama. Not all wish to tread the boards but instead are invaluable carrying out those backstage jobs Rehearsal Tuesdays & Fridays 8.00pm whilst in production January to April and September to November and perform plays twice a year in April and November.

West Moors Flower Group is a friendly group of approx. 70 members. We are affiliated to NAFAS (The National Association of ] Flower Arrangement Societies) and have a demonstration or talk most months at our club meetings. In addition, the following week we hold a ‘Fun with Flowers’ session when anyone can have a go at arranging flowers with guidance from two of our experienced committee members. West Moors Horticultural Society |
West Moors Horticultural Society is a thriving organisation with approximately 500 members. We hold two major shows per year. The Spring show in March includes a Daffodil championship. The Summer show in August includes a Dahlia championship and a fruit and vegetable section. Both shows include an element of Handicrafts, Floral Art and Homecraft. In addition, we hold an annual plant sale, usually during the month of May so please do come along for a cup of coffee and to see what bargains you can get! We hold eight talks a year on various subjects of interest, some of which include slide shows. We also have four outings per year. Our coffee mornings are held in the Memorial Hall two mornings per year, in January and October. Anyone is welcome to come along for a coffee and a chat. |

West Moors Townswomen's Group |
Once a month, on the third Thursday 2pm-4pm West Moors branch of Townswomen’s Guild only opened in February 2018 but we had a very successful group pre COVID. We would be delighted if you would like to come and see what we are about.We aim to have fun, socialise and educate ourselves too. There are talks of a wide variety, quizzes, baking completions , parties etc. Our Guild also has a monthly lunch club and a coffee morning in the village. We are part of Dorset Federation of TG and there are other activities such as a general knowledge quiz in September, which 100 ladies have signed up for. Women's Institute |
West Moors WI (Women's Institute) meet on the first Thursday of the month in the hall from 2 pm. We are a friendly group of women ranging in ages and on average 35-40 members attend the monthly meeting. We normally have a speaker on various topics from local history, documentary cameraman to demonstration on sugar craft. We also have a craft section which meets twice a month and a monthly lunch club and organise a couple of coach trips per year , though both this year due to circumstances had to be cancelled. In 2021 we will be celebrating our 100th year and hope to organise a number of special events to celebrate. |

Zumba Gold |
Thursdays 10am - 11am A group fitness class that is less intense than a regular Zumba class. Suitable for anyone who hasn’t exercised before, or for a long time. Anyone recovering from illness or injury, or for anyone that is wanting a less intense workout. The majority of my participants are 50+ but the class is suitable for anyone. We combine strengthening exercises, balance, co-ordination & flexibility in a fun environment. |
